Cold front coming Friday, with near-record high temperatures ahead of it and a chance of rain/storms late.
On Friday, near-record high temperatures are expected ahead of a cold front. We will finally have a limited chance of rain Friday evening into the overnight hours as a cold front moves in; a couple of scattered showers, or even a thunderstorm with gusty winds, will be possible. I am not expecting everyone to get rain; it'll be scattered, but I included a couple of future radar models below to show you the front's progress. It'll turn much colder for the weekend with highs bac

May-like weather is coming this week, the 70s and even some 80s are next up. A long-lasting warm-up with late April/May-like temperatures expected starting Wednesday through early next week at least, temperatures will be in the upper 60s and 70s for most areas, with some areas into the low 80s at times. Along the coast (thanks to cooler water temps) and in the mountains, it will be more so in the 60s, but everyone else should see an extended period of sunshine and well-above-

Active and wet Thursday ahead. Much needed rain is expected.
🌧️ Thursday: Let's talk about the forecast for Thursday. A low-pressure system will move in across the state. Models are pretty aggressive with the rain, showing some heavy at times, which is definitely possible, especially for Central and Western NC, but I am taking it more with a grain of salt. The potential is there for some areas to see an inch or more, especially Central and Western NC, with lower amounts further east. I can't rule out an isolated embedded thunderstorm

Minor Winter Weather Event Possible Wednesday Night: Could lead to more slick travel.
Winter Weather Update: Hey all, we're still on track for another round of Winter Weather tonight. It should be a minor event, but I can't rule out some slick travel tonight after sunset through about 10/11AM Thursday in spots, especially across Central and Eastern North Carolina. A low-pressure system with a cold front is moving through the state, bringing mostly plain cold scattered rain right now that'll continue on and off for the rest of the day. There is potential for another round of winter weather this week across parts of North Carolina!
Headlines This Week, Potentially some more winter weather midweek? Hey everyone, I've seen the messages, the rumors, and the apps. Yes, there is potential for another round of light snow/sleet mid-week in parts of the state. This won't be a winter storm, and nothing like the last event, but the potential (high uncertainty) is there for at least some more snow for parts of the state. I'll explain more below. At this point, if you don't laugh, you cry right. Tonight-Tuesday: Lo

Winter Storm expected this weekend across most of the state, increasing snow potential some heavy at times.
❄️ Winter Storm/Snowstorm Update: Hey everyone, our second Winter Storm in a week is knocking on the doorstep. Accumulating snow is likely across most of the state, with some spots seeing higher amounts of snowfall. I've been looking through the data, and it looks like everyone is still on track to get at least some snow! There will be winners and losers with this snowstorm (well depends on whether you like or hate snow). Uncertainty about how much snow remains is going to fa

Winter Storm becoming likely for a good portion of the state this weekend. Accumulating snow odds increasing
❄️ Winter Storm Update: Good afternoon, everyone. It seems the hype and excitement are flying around about this Winter Storm that is coming to North Carolina! There remains the dreaded a considerable amount of uncertainty with how much snow is going to fall across the state, this will not be an even storm there will be folks who get a boom (more snow then expcted) and a bust where there is less snow than expected and nailing down that right now is like throwing a dart into a

The odds of yet another Winter Storm to NC is increasing but not a certain
Winter Storm Update: Hey everyone, I guess we're gonna really do this again. It is pretty wild to be honest, not very common in NC for back to back winter storms. I've been in denial all week, but models continue to suggest the potential is there for another round of Winter Weather, mainly in the form of snow, which is even rarer. I'll say as of this morning, the odds of at least some accumulating snowfall are increasing across the state, still not a 100% lock because, well i

Potential of another Winter Storm this weekend (January 31st-Feb 1) but not a lock
Winter Storm this weekend, or nah? Good afternoon everyone, it is like Groundhog Day all over again lol. I'll address the elephant in the room. Yes, we have the potential of yet another winter storm this weekend across parts of North Carolina, but no it is not a slam dunk (or complete lock), we're days away and still have several pieces to come together. It is hard to get snow in North Carolina; we all know this. This type of setup allows for very aggressive models, followed

Winter Storm/Ice Storm on the way to most of North Carolina!
Saturday Morning Winter Storm/Ice Storm Update: Good morning, all. Our forecast remains mostly on track. A significant to potentially major Winter Storm/Ice Storm is expected to begin later today into tonight across the state. After looking through the data this morning, I have not changed the forecast much at all. The main change is that I adjusted the arrival of the precipitation just a tad, and moved some of the higher ice accrual just a tad north and west. -Condtions will

WINTER STORM/ICE STORM UPDATE 11AM FRIDAY: Good morning, everyone. Our Winter Storm/Ice Storm is knocking on the door. Confidence continues to increase that a significant Winter Storm/Ice Storm is expected across a good portion of the state Saturday evening/night into Monday morning. WINTER STORM UPDATE: Good evening everyone, I've seen enough confidence in the models today and given the system is moving in soon, to release my First Call Freezing Rain, and Snow/Sleet Accumulation maps. I've been looking through the data all day, and I was really hoping for better news regarding the Freezing Rain threat, but models just have not backed off, and looking at some historical data. Significant Winter Storm expected to a good portion of North Carolina, increasing risk of Sleet and Freezing Rain
Winter Storm Update: Good Thursday Morning, here's my latest thinking on the incoming Winter Storm across most of the state. Confidence continues to increase, which will see a significant winter storm that will bring high impacts to a good portion of Central and Western North Carolina, leading to hazardous travel and the potential of power outages where the heaviest ice accrual occurs. Very Cold Weather from gusty winds Monday night into Tuesday could occur, potentially resul
