🏜️ Drought conditions continue to worsen across North Carolina, according to the latest Drought Monitor released this morning. 22.28% of the state is now in Extreme Drought for the first time in over a decade, affecting parts of Central North Carolina Western, and Piedmont of the state! Over 95% of the state is in Severe drought. There is very little rain in the forecast over the next 7 days, and I expect conditions to continue to deteriorate throughout the state. Water restrictions, low stream flows, agricultural impacts, and increased wildfire risk will be the main threats. Most areas are running over 10 inches or more below normal for rainfall; it'll take a good amount of rain to recover from this.

Please do not burn!!
