Friday, January 1st, 2021 Welcome to 2021

Welcome to 2021, the same raw weather followed us into the new year. Happy New Year, North Carolina! I hope you have a wonderful New Year, and we can all look forward to a better and brighter time; thank you for always following the page.

Unfortunately, today will be a carbon copy of yesterday. Mostly cloudy with areas of fog this morning and on and off rain, the rain will be around through the day in waves. A few areas of rain could be heavy at times, another good day to stay inside and enjoy some movies or football. The coverage should be about 70% of the state; odds are you should have some dry time but still foggy and wet.

Temperatures are another challenging thing; we're still in the Cold Air Damming/Wedge; it appears temperatures should warm into the 60s across parts of Eastern and Coastal NC. However, to the west, I've opted to go lower than most model guidance due to the fact that wedges are notorious for slowing warming, and models are a warm bias on this type of setup. Highs for areas from Greenville west to the mountains will be in the 30s and 40s with some 50s far east, model guidance is slightly higher, but due to the setup, I've gone lower as we usually don't warm with CAD events away from the coast.

There is some good news for Saturday, temperatures should warm considerably, and we should see some drier time weather.
