It is a new day across the state; make the best of it. Happy Tuesday, North Carolina! At the surface this morning we have a high-pressure system centered off the coast of North Carolina; this will allow for maximum daytime heating. Partly sunny skies will drive temperatures into the mid/upper 80s and low 90s for most areas, with hot and humid conditions expected. Our atmosphere should experience moderate destabilization this afternoon and evening; thanks to outflow boundaries and some forcing around,, I expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop. Storms will just be popup with about 40% coverage; they could produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall. The greatest timing for storms will be between 1PM and 8PM generally dying as the sunsets. Overall, severe weather is not expected today however summertime storms can occasionally produce severe weather. Have a good day!
Additional showers and thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday and Thursday in the afternoon and evening with an isolated severe storm possible.
