Beach Hazards Statement issued June 14 at 10:04AM EDT until June 14 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC ONSET: Jun 14, 2:04 PM UTC EXPIRES: Jun 15, 12:00 AM UTC WHAT: Strong longshore currents in the surf zone. WHERE: The beaches from Cape Hatteras to Surf City. INSTRUCTION: Strong longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers into rip currents, piers, jetties and other hazardous areas. In many cases, the longshore current is strong enough to prevent swimmers from being able to keep their feet on the bottom making it difficult to return to shore.

Heat Advisory issued June 14 at 11:12AM EDT until June 14 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC ONSET: Jun 14, 3:12 PM UTC EXPIRES: Jun 15, 12:00 AM UTC WHAT: Heat index values up to 104. WHERE: A portion of central North Carolina. INSTRUCTION: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Coastal Flood Advisory issued June 14 at 2:13PM EDT until June 15 at 12:00AM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC ONSET: Jun 15, 12:00 AM UTC EXPIRES: Jun 15, 2:00 AM UTC WHAT: Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. WHERE: The lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington. INSTRUCTION: If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

WHERE: Coastal Pender and Coastal New Hanover Counties. INSTRUCTION: If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Caution should be used when in or near the water. Check with lifeguards before entering the ocean for possible hazards you may be swept into.

WHERE: Coastal Brunswick County. INSTRUCTION: If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Caution should be used when in or near the water. Check with lifeguards before entering the ocean for possible hazards you may be swept into.
