Tropical Update: Monitoring the tropics!

Tropical Update: Hey everyone, it is still Hurricane Season, and activity is starting to ramp up. I'm updating you on our current status and sharing my thoughts for the next week or so. Gabrielle has become a Major Hurricane with winds of 120MPH and a pressure of 955MB. It is heading out to sea and is east of Bermuda as a 🐠 storm!

šŸ“Œ We're monitoring two other systems in the Atlantic Ocean. I'll walk you through thoughts on both. System 1 is located about 400 miles East of the Leeward Islands. It is a tropical wave moving east. By the latter part of this week, the system is expected to slow down and turn more northwestward, and a tropical depression could form late this week when the system is over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean or near the Bahamas. The system will be around the Bahamas late week and early weekend; beyond that, models are all over the place. There is a very ampted atmosphere, so I expect some wild models for the time being until we have the system designed. A few models develop this further into a Tropical Storm or Hurricane, while others drop it all. At this time, it does not pose an immediate threat, but we should keep an eye on it over the coming days just in case.

šŸ“Œ System two. This system is located in the Central Atlantic and currently shows good chances of becoming a tropical system over the next 5-7 days, with the National Hurricane Center giving it at least a 70% chance. It keeps moving west to northwest across the Central Atlantic, and at this time, most models recurve it back out to sea. As always, since the system is not developed yet with no closed low we can't take it for 100%. However, I like the odds of this one going back out to sea.

šŸ˜Ž The Bottom Line: There is still no immediate threat to North Carolina, but we will watch the system close to us for the coming days to see where models want to take this and how the atmosphere sets up by the weekend into early next week. There's plenty of time to watch things, and nothing really concerning at this time. There's nothing you can do; continue with your plans and days, and have a plan in place in case a storm comes along. We know the deal, we will be just fine! I'll be watching everything closely and updating as needed.
