While it may be December 2nd that does not mean we can't have Severe Weather in NC and that's just the case today. The Storms Prediction Center has placed portions of the state under a slight and marginal risk for today. I have included a graphic below showing these areas. I have also included a graphic to describe what each of these mean in a little more detail. Isolated to scattered strong storms will be possible today, especially across the sandhills and coastal plain of NC Heavy rain, hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornados will be possible. Areas South and East of Lumberton of the greatest chance to see Tornados today, while it is not very high the risk is there and needs to be watched. Timing will be later this morning into this afternoon, west to east ending is excepted.
Severe Weather Threat for areas east of Raleigh, with the greatest threat south of Fayetteville including: Clinton, Lumberton, Wilmington, Leland, Jacksonville, Havelock, Morehead City and surrounding areas.
