Saturday, June 15th Forecast

A new day is ahead with a little change to the weather for some. Happy Saturday, North Carolina! As I look over the latest surface data this morning, there is a front that is located across parts of Eastern and Southeast sections of the state this morning; temperatures statewide will be down 1-2° for highs compared to yesterday in the upper 80s and low 90s for most areas. As the front will be across Southeastern NC, the combination of the heating of the day and the lift from the front, along with the sea breeze, should spark some showers and thunderstorms today across SE NC especially right along the coast to just inland. These storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall; I can't completely rule out a severe storm with damaging winds, although the risk is pretty low. An isolated storm can't be ruled out west of Greensboro into the mountains today as well. If there's anything up on the radar this afternoon, I'll pass along some updates.
