It's a new day across the state, starting off pretty quiet, turning more active. Happy Thursday, North Carolina! Partly sunny skies are expected, an isolated shower is possible this morning, then quiet weather. We will have a disturbance work into the mountains this evening, it should allow for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop off the mountains, mainly after 3-4PM a line to broken line of showers and thunderstorms will work into the mountains and foothills this evening. These storms will push east through the late evening and slowly weaken. A couple of strong to severe storms are possible mainly from about Raleigh west this evening, some damaging wind gusts and hail are the main threats. Highs today will be in the 70s and low 80s.
