Forecast June 18th, Wednesday.

A new day is upon us, and it's turning even hotter across the state. Happy Wednesday, North Carolina. The heat is building in, and Mother Nature is ready for the official start of summer. I can't rule out a stray shower or passing storm early this morning, but most are dry this am. I expect mostly sunny skies with highs warming quickly into the upper 80s and low to mid-90s for most of the state, a little cooler in the higher elevations of the mountains. Heat index values could reach 100-105° in some spots, especially outside of the mountains. We can expect a couple of rather isolated hit or miss storms this afternoon and evening across the state, but coverage will likely only be 20-30% so nothing like we've seen the last few days. If a storm does pass through your town, is could have gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Have a great day.
