Friday, January 12th PM Weather Update.

Good afternoon all; here's an update about what to expect for the rest of the day. Showers and some thunderstorms are moving into Western NC now and will spread east through the remainder of the afternoon and evening. We still have a risk of a strong to severe storm, the timing is mainly 5PM about 1AM; the favored area is on the map below on image 1. I don't expect this to be a big severe weather event; we could see a few strong to maybe storms; damaging winds will be the main threat. I can't rule out an isolated tornado. Regardless of the storms, winds will be gusty late this afternoon into the overnight hours. Winds could gust up to 50MPH in spots. Image 2 is what the radar could look like around 7PM tonight; if you have evening plans, be aware that rain will be around. I am really not convinced this will be much of anything; the atmosphere is just not primed.
