Forecast: Thursday October 17th

It's a new day across the state, and it'll be a cold start to the day! Happy Thursday, North Carolina! Looking over the morning observations, temperatures are in the 20s and 30s/40s for many, which is chilly. We have a low-pressure system off the Outer Banks this morning. High pressure will start building in from the MS valley today. It'll keep our temperatures below average, but we will slowly begin to warm over the next few days. The low off the Outer Banks could throw a few showers along the Outer Banks; elsewhere across the state, I expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the 50s and low 60s.

Due to the king tides and breezy conditions along the coast, higher-than-normal tides are expected over the next few days. Some areas of minor coastal flooding will be possible, especially along the Outer Banks.
