Looking over morning data, a pre-frontal trough is located across Eastern NC, and a cold front is to the west. I expect partly to mostly sunny skies today; a few scattered thunderstorms will fire this afternoon ahead of the cold front. A storm or two could be strong to severe, with damaging winds mainly east. Highs today will be in the 80s to near 90°. The cold front will pass through tonight, bringing cooler and drier air for the remainder of the week
